Under direction of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, all Deans, Department Chairs/Heads, and Graduate Program Coordinators shall implement this policy, and all faculty shall ensure compliance with the policy.
III. APPLICABILITY
This policy applies to all undergraduate students of Rowan University.
IV. POLICY
Applying graduate coursework to an undergraduate degree:
Undergraduate students at Rowan University may register for two graduate-level courses during their senior year not to exceed a total of 8 semester credit hours, for application to an undergraduate degree. At the permission of the academic program coordinator, students may be allowed to enroll in two graduate courses in one semester.
Approval from the instructor of the graduate course, the department chair/head or coordinator of the graduate program, and the student’s undergraduate program advisor is required for a student to be allowed to enroll in a graduate course for undergraduate credit.
Students must be matriculated in an undergraduate degree program at Rowan University and must have:
- Earned at least 90 semester credit hours at the undergraduate level
- Achieved a cumulative Rowan undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.000
- Met the required pre-requisites for the graduate course
Graduate coursework completed under the Undergraduate Senior Privilege Policy is billed at the undergraduate tuition rate, recorded on the student’s undergraduate record, and counts toward the undergraduate GPA. Graduate coursework may count as elective credit toward the undergraduate degree or with permission of the advisor may fulfill an undergraduate degree requirement.
Students may transfer graduate coursework completed under the Undergraduate Senior Privilege Policy to a graduate program if applicable. The courses and credits will appear on both the undergraduate and graduate records, but the grade will not count toward the graduate GPA.
