II. ACCOUNTABILITY

III. APPLICABILITY

 This policy is applicable to all students of Rowan University.

IV. POLICY

  1. Joining a Greek social organization without fully complying with all University requirements' regarding eligibility is strictly prohibited. Both the individual student and the organization will be subject to disciplinary action for new membership violations.
  2. The following requirements pertain to students joining all Greek social organizations. Full-time matriculated students Students are eligible for new to receive a bid or invitation to membership when they have:
    1. Enrolled as a full-time matriculated, undergraduate student
    2. Attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  3. and have successfully completed enrollment of at least
    1. or higher
    2. Completed a minimum of 12 credits at Rowan University (including credits that may be basic-
  4. skills
    1. skill level)

  6. Filled out and submitted the "New Member Registration Form" to the Office of Greek Affairs.
  7. Filled out and submitted the "Information on Indemnification and Hazing for all Greek New Members Form" to the Office of Greek Affairs.
  8. Completion of the "New Member Workshop" presented by the Office of Greek Affairs.
  9. First semester transfer students admitted through the transfer admissions process will be required to submit an official transcript from their previous institution to verify cumulative GPA eligibility
    1. or transferred to Rowan University with a minimum of 12 college credits from another college or university.
  10. Students matriculating through the Educational Opportunity Fund/RISE program must complete 24 college level credits and seek the approval of their counselor prior to joining a Greek-letter organization.
  11. Students admitted through the Rowan Choice program are unable to participate in Greek Life recruitment not eligible to join a Greek social organization until they complete the Rowan Choice program by transferring to Rowan University and meet the requirements for new membership in Greek Social Organizations.

V. RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Office of Greek Affairs staff will verify the student's eligibility to join a Greek social organization.   
  2. Students are responsible for:
    1. Submitting an official transcript from their previous institution to verify cumulative GPA eligibility (first semester transfer students only).
    2. Submitting the "New Member Registration Form" to the Office of Greek Affairs.
    3. Completing the "New Member Workshop" and any additional new member programs presented by the Office of Greek Affairs.
